By the time someone calls me about their bathroom, it's usually been on the list for years. I'm Lloyd, a carpenter based on the Mornington Peninsula, and I do bathroom renovations across the Peninsula, from quick remodels that freshen up a tired room through to full renovations stripped back to the frame.
I manage the whole job myself and bring in licensed plumbers and electricians for their part of it, so you've got one person to deal with from the first quote through to the day you're using your new bathroom.
What's included in a bathroom renovation
Every bathroom is different, but a full renovation with me usually covers:
- Demolition and strip-out of the old bathroom
- Framing, wall changes, shower niches and any carpentry
- Waterproofing
- Wall and floor tiling
- Plumbing and electrical by licensed trades
- Vanity, shower screen, tapware, towel rails, mirrors and lighting installed
- Clean-up and a final walk-through with you

A remodel keeps the layout and the plumbing where they are and replaces what you see and touch - the vanity, tapware, shower screen, lighting and, where needed, the tiles. It's quicker and it costs less.

A full renovation strips the room back to the frame, so the layout can change, the waterproofing is done from scratch and everything is new. It takes longer, but it's the right call when there's water damage, an awkward layout or a room that's simply worn out.
How a bathroom renovation runs
1. Site visit and quote
I come out, measure up and talk through what you want, then send you a written quote.
2. Choosing fixtures
We settle on the vanity, tapware, tiles and fittings.
3. Strip-out
The old bathroom comes out, and I check what's going on behind the walls and under the floor.
4. Rough-in
Plumbing and electrical go in where the new layout needs them.
5. Waterproofing and tiling
The wet areas are waterproofed, then the walls and floor are tiled.
6. Fit-off and handover
The vanity, tapware, shower screen, mirrors and lighting go in, then we walk through it together and it's yours.
